Year 5 Biological Sciences Zoo Excursion

5

Our Year 5 Biological Sciences unit understanding, ‘living things have structural features and adaptations that help them to survive in their environment’, took students to the zoo this week.

They studied the Asian Elephant, Helmeted Honeyeater, Australian Fur Seal and Philippine Crocodile, paying close attention to their structural and behavioural adaptations, as well as considering their IUCN conservation status and threats. This included camouflage, teeth types, if they were diurnal or nocturnal, climate change and poaching. It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all!
